Talk About A Demo

A place to try.

Make a demo, explore multitrack recording, or try a little editing and mixing. The point is to give your music a starting place—not to prove that you are already a professional performer.

Email a little about your idea, the instruments or people involved and anything that would help you feel comfortable. We’ll talk about what is practical before arranging a session. There is no obligation to arrive with a commercial project.

Our Equipment

Satya Studios combines flexible recording technology with hands-on sound shaping.

Cubase Pro 15 sits at the heart of the studio, with a 48-channel audio interface providing room to record multiple sources and build songs in layers. A wide selection of outboard equipment offers further ways to explore tone and dynamics, while Yamaha HS7 studio monitors help us listen closely during recording and mixing.

The Korg modwave mkII adds a creative sound-design instrument: evolving textures, atmospheric pads, basses and leads that can give a song its own character. Its wavetable synthesis lets us explore sounds that move and change, rather than relying only on conventional instrument tones.

Native Instruments Maschine 3 brings beat-making, sampling and pattern-based sequencing into the process. It helps us sketch drum parts, build grooves, reshape sounds and try arrangements—useful for turning a small musical idea into the foundations of a track.

You don’t need to understand the equipment before you arrive. Bring your instrument, your voice or your idea—we’ll work out how best to capture it.

Recording FAQs

A few things you might like to know before arranging a session.

Where is Satya Studios?

Satya Studios is a home recording space based in Flintshire, North Wales, UK. The address and arrival arrangements are shared when we agree a session.

How much does recording cost?

There is no charge for recording. Donations are welcome but entirely optional—you do not need to donate to record here.

Why is recording free?

The studio exists to give people somewhere to explore music without the cost of studio time becoming a barrier. Income from software and other creative work helps support the space.

Do I need to be a professional musician?

No. You don’t need professional experience, a polished performance or a finished song. First attempts and rough ideas are welcome.

What sort of recording is the studio for?

The focus is on demos, developing ideas and exploring your sound. That might mean recording an original song, capturing a performance or building a track in layers.

Can I come if I’ve never recorded before?

Absolutely. We can talk through the process and take it one step at a time. You do not need to understand recording equipment or studio terminology.

Does my song need to be finished?

No. Bring what you have. Recording can help you discover what a song needs, rather than simply capture something already complete.

Can I send you a rough recording first?

Yes. A phone recording can help explain your idea. Email first to arrange the best way to share it—it does not need to sound polished.

How do I arrange a session?

Email info@satyastudios.uk with a little about yourself, what you would like to record and any instruments or other people involved. We’ll discuss what is practical before agreeing a session.

Can I just turn up?

No. This is a home studio, so visits are by prior arrangement only. Please wait until we have confirmed your session and arrival details.

What should I bring?

Tell us what you plan to record, and we’ll agree what you need beforehand. That may include your instrument, lyrics, notes, a backing track or an existing demo.

Can I use backing tracks?

Yes, provided you have permission to use the track for the recording and what you intend to do with it. Tell us where it came from and share the licence or permission before the session. Buying a backing track or finding it online does not automatically allow you to release a recording made with it. If you plan to publish, stream, sell or use the result in a video, check that the necessary permissions cover both the backing recording and the underlying song.

Can I record vocals over a backing track?

We can discuss that. You will need permission to use the backing track for your intended purpose, particularly if you plan to publish or release the recording.

Can you record more than one instrument?

Multitrack recording allows us to build a song from separate parts. Tell us about your project so we can discuss the instruments, equipment and space it needs.

Can I bring a band or another musician?

Ask before arranging the session. This is a small home recording space, so the number of people and the practical requirements need to be agreed in advance.

Can someone come with me for support?

Please ask when arranging your session. We can discuss who you would like to bring and what will work comfortably within the space.

What if I’m nervous?

You don’t have to arrive feeling confident. Tell us what would help, and we can discuss the session beforehand. There is no expectation that you will get everything right on the first take.

Can we stop for a break?

Yes. Recording should leave room to pause, listen and try again. Let us know if you need a break or want to stop.

Do I have to record everything in one take?

No. Where it suits the project, we can record separate parts, try different takes and work on sections individually. We’ll choose an approach that helps you and the music.

Can you help with editing and mixing?

Editing and mixing can form part of developing your demo. We’ll discuss the level of work involved before starting so expectations are clear.

Will the result be a release-ready commercial recording?

The main focus is making demos and exploring ideas. We won’t promise a particular commercial standard or outcome. Tell us what you hope to do with the recording so we can discuss whether the studio is the right fit.

How long will a session take?

That depends on the project and what you want to achieve. We’ll agree a practical session length beforehand rather than assume every song needs the same amount of time.

What will I receive afterwards?

We’ll agree the files and any editing or mixing before recording. If you need separate tracks, a particular file format or files for another producer, mention that at the start.

Who owns my song?

Recording at Satya Studios does not transfer ownership of your original song to us. Rights involving collaborators, backing tracks, samples and the resulting recording should be agreed before any release.

Will you put my recording online?

Not without your permission. Attending a session does not give us permission to publish your performance, photographs or personal story as promotional material.

Can I record a cover song?

Contact us to discuss it. Recording a cover does not automatically give you permission to distribute it or use it in a video; the permissions needed depend on what you intend to do with it.

Is the studio accessible?

Please describe any access requirements before booking so we can discuss the actual arrangements. As this is a home studio, we should confirm suitability rather than assume it will meet every need.

What if I need to cancel or rearrange?

Email as soon as you can. There is no recording fee, but advance notice helps protect the time set aside for your session.

Is Satya Studios a therapy service?

No. Music can be meaningful and recording can offer a way to express yourself, but Satya Studios is not a clinical or therapeutic service. You do not need to share personal experiences to record here.
